1. Introduction
To successfully implement reservoir operations subject to variable power supply depends scientific developments within subsurface understanding and reservoir management must bed tested on common field cases under realistic settings. Together with industry partners we will select representative case studies. The technical advancements must also be linked to economic feasibility in a wider perspective and by performing techno-economic assessments decision-making can be improved.
2. Research goals
We will showcase the models and methods developed through the centre on realistic field-cases and demonstrate how this knowledge base can be used for reliable appraisal of fields for effective petroleum production and energy storage. We will apply improved data assimilation to optimize reservoir operations when energy supplies vary and compare single vs portfolio optimization to allow for local net-zero solutions. We will further do targeted techno-economic modeling on representative cases on NCS to investigate the impact of intermittency and power shortages on production
3. Delivery
- Site-specific assessment of potential for reservoir operations in a renewable power setting on selected field cases based on industry input
- Systems level economic feasibility on selected field cases
- Final reports, best practice, recommendations and published guidelines
